Manor St. John Youth Service successfully completes the National Quality Standards Framework

Last year the Office of the Minister for Children & Youth Affairs in Ireland announced the start of the National Quality Standards Framework for all organisations working with young people in Ireland.  The objective of the Framework is to ensure that all Irish youth organisations will have the highest possible standards when it comes to their work with young people.

Manor St. John Youth Service was chosen along with two other Waterford based youth organisations, to pilot the Framework before it was rolled to all other youth organisations in the City & County.  We successfully completed our Quality Audit in November and we were presented with our completion certificate at an event in the Waterford Youth Committee Office last week.

A new year in Manor St. John Youth Service - A message from Kevin Power - the Service Manager.

Let's be positive  ! ! !

First of I would like to wish all a very happy new year and welcome to 2011. In 2010 MSJ worked with over 200 young people and provided a vast array of programmes and activities to young people and other community members. 2011 will see us once again trying to develop and provide further programmes that support young people to lead active and meaningful lives.

The ‘Next Steps’ programme providing modules of training commenced in November 2010 and will continue to provide fulltime accredited training to 20 young people. The on-going provision of our listening service, afterschool support programmes, outdoor activity programme, bands, weekly youth cafe, daily clubs and other educational supports will continue to form the backbone of our activities in 2011.

As with all other sectors of Irish Society at the moment resources are strained and now more than ever young people need activity and development opportunities that are positive and constructive. MSJ will endeavour to continue to provide these supports within its resources during 2011.

Over the next few weeks we will once again develop our annual operational plan which will be published on the web. Do check the news and other sections of the website regularly for updates on what’s going down in MSJ during 2011.

Once again Happy new year to everyone lets make it a positive experience for all of us.
