Call for participants
Youth Participation Workshops.

 


Waterford Voluntary Youth Council in association with Waterford

Area Partnership and Manor St John Youth Service are holding a

series of workshops for young people, frontline staff and volunteers
The theme of these workshops will be to explore in a practical way

approaches to improving young person’s participation in decision

making.


Specifically we will be running -

 

Young Person’s Workshops.
4 X workshops for young people aged 16 to 18 - Thursday evenings

6.00 to 8.00 pm (tea will be provided at 5.30)
Dates: September 16th, September 23rd, September 30th and

October 7th.

 

Frontline staff and Volunteers
1-day workshop from 10 .00 until 3.30
Dates: Frontline staff, Friday 24th September,
Volunteers Saturday 25th September


All session will take place at Manor St. John Youth Services, Community Campus,

Lisduggan, Waterford.
There is no charge for participation in the workshops
A certificate of attendance will be offered to young people and

volunteers
We are now inviting organisations to nominate participants for the

programme – places are limited and will be offered on a first come

first serve basis - Contact Kevin on 051 - 372169 to book.

 

HARVEST TIME IN THE MANOR COMMUNITY GARDEN. [August - September]

 

 

 

 

It's time to pick the fruit and veg from the Manor Community Garden - we have a great harvest this year - see the Flickr gallery. We have bucket loads of tomatoes, potatoes and onions.

 

VISIT BY THE STAFF OF ST. PAUL'S COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO MANOR ST. JOHN YOUTH SERVICE.

 

Fifty members of the teaching staff of St. Paul's Community College in Waterford  spent the day with us before school restarted. The picture shows Manor St. John Youth Service manager Kevin Power welcoming the teaching staff before giving them an overview of our work.

 

 

The staff members had lunch with us, after the lunch and a tour of the Manor St. John Campus we discussed ways in which we will co-operate  to improve the lives of young people in our area.

 

 

LIGHTS - CAMERA ACTION !! WE'RE MAKING A MOVIE. [Summer]

 

Manor St. John Youth Service and the WYD Eye Film unit are making a film this Summer. Details are secret until the film is released in September of this year but here's a hint - it'll be scary and set in an old Manor.

 

 

Manor club members will write the script, make the sets and props and will act in the film. More photos of the making of the film are on the manor Flickr photo site.

 

 

SUMMER CAMPS ! SUMMER CAMPS ! SUMMER CAMPS ! [2010]

Lots of summer camps coming up in the Manor this year - sport camps, outdoor challenges, camping trips - we have it all - check out our Flickr pages for lots of photos at the end of the Summer.

 

 


MANOR ST. JOHN CAMPUS HEALTH DAY - WRITE THIS IN YOUR DIARY - NOW ! [June]

On June the 10th the Manor St. John Youth Service will be taking part in a Campus Health Day based in the campus hall. Everyone is welcome - there will be free health checks including glaucoma, blood pressure & cholestrol tests.

 

 

All kinds of health related information and advice will be available on the day including important information for parents on the growing problem of cyber-bullying.

ATTENTION ALL FILM MAKERS. [April]

 

Manor St. John Youth Service will be running a series of workshops for young film makers during the Spring and Summer. Keep checking back here for news of a fillm we will be making.

MANOR ST. JOHN YOUTH SERVICE GARDEN PROJECT. [March/April 2010]

 

Our garden project is up and running  - the fruit & veg will be used in our healthy eating programmes.

 

A tunnel has been put up around the back of our premises and already some of the seedlings are sprouting !

 

 

Seed beds have been allocated to the Manor Children's Centre, Larchville Lisduggan Men's Group and the Manor St. John Youth Service Clubs. We will post lots of photos of the first harvest this summer on Flick.com.

 

The next part of this project is a paved area with seats and shade trees for the gardeners to relax in.

MANOR ST. JOHN FÁS NEXT STEPS PROGRAMME. [February 2010]

 

The 15 young people who are taking part in the Manor St. John F.Á.S 'Next Steps' training programme are back for the second part of the programme. The young people will continue the training programme until April when their FETAC exams will start -

 

 

After the FETAC exams the participants will have four months work experience to build on their new skills.

We would like to welcome all staff and club members back - we are sure that 2010 will be a great year for Manor St. John Youth Service.
